What the APK viewer shows
Read from the APK's own AndroidManifest.xml and its native libraries, the same information Android checks when it installs the app.
App name and package
The package name, like com.example.app, is what identifies an app. A copy on a download site with a different package is not the real one.
Version
The version name and the file size, to tell which build you have.
Minimum Android
The oldest Android version the app installs on, so you know before trying whether it fits your phone.
CPU architecture
64-bit ARM, 32-bit ARM, x86 only, or no native code at all. x86-only builds won't run on phones.
Google Play services
Whether the app relies on them for sign-in, maps or push notifications, which matters on devices without Google Play.
Bundles too
.xapk, .apks and .apkm files: the base APK and splits are read together, and OBB data files are counted. More on XAPK files.

Is my APK uploaded?
Not to view it: the details are read by this page in your browser. Only if you press Run it and sign in is the file uploaded, to start your own device, and it is deleted after an hour. See the privacy policy.
Is the viewer free?
Yes, and it needs no account. Running the app uses free minutes: 30 for every Google account.
Does it show the app's permissions?
Not in the viewer. Run the app to see what it actually asks for: Android asks for most permissions while the app runs, on the device's screen.
Can it tell me if an APK is safe?
No, it is not a virus scanner. It tells you what the app is; for a malware check use a scanner such as VirusTotal. Running it here keeps it away from your own phone either way.
Can I view an .aab file?
No. Android App Bundles are a developer format that devices can't install; bundletool turns one into an .apks file, which works here.
